Established by the Free Zone decree number 8 of 26th March 1996. Came into office on 1st January 2000.

Awarded a Five Year Consultancy Contract in 1997 by the Federal Ministry of Commerce for the Management and Operation of Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone. Which has been extended for further 4 years by Oil & Gas Free Zone Authority.
